Retrofitting

Upgrade your UPS without
replacing it.

Borri offers fully customized retrofitting solutions to extend the life of your UPS systems, improve efficiency, and integrate the latest technologies—without the need for complete replacement. Ideal for industrial environments and legacy systems, retrofitting is a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to new installations.

Why consider retrofitting your UPS?

Extended Lifetime

Ageing of components and technology obsolescence can limit regular maintenance activities. Retrofitting allows you to extend the life of your UPS, ensuring business continuity.

Technology and Reliability

Old units often use components and technology that are no longer manufactured or supported. With retrofitting, you benefit from modern components, digitally controlled technologies, advanced microprocessors and updated firmware. This improves the reliability and flexibility of the system.

Cost Reduction

Retrofitting allows you to optimise your investments. No engineering costs or infrastructure updates are required. By using the existing cabinet, you minimise logistical impact and save time and money.

Control Logic Retrofit

Logic retrofitting

Borri will upgrade the existing systems with the latest drivers and firmware, thus improving the efficiency and reliability of alreadyinstalled systems. During a preliminary inspection, our technicians will check if the UPS's main power components such as input transformers, chokes, IGBTs and switches can be reused.

Following this inspection, we will supply the customer with a tested logic kit, ready to be installed on site by our technicians. After installation, our Service team will test the system and issue a compliance report as well as a test certificate.

Retrofitting

Retrofit in Existing Cabinet

This solution is designed for installed systems where the technology has become obsolete, thus requiring complete replacement of the unit. The customer benefits from considerable cost and logistical savings by avoiding potential costs associated with the complete replacement and positioning of a new system, new cabling and infrastructure updates.

The ‘open frame’ solution consists of a fully assembled and tested charger/UPS mounted in a customised frame to be integrated into the existing cabinet on site.

This solution minimises the need for significant structural work: the old system is completely removed and the new one is installed directly inside the existing cabinet. Once the installation is completed, the new unit is connected to the cables and put back into operation.

Retrofitting

New System Retrofit

Borri can replace an installed system with a new one equipped with the latest technology, the same as the existing one in terms of mechanical and input/output characteristics.

This solution allows the customer to have an upgraded system without any additional cost for new engineering or structural modifications. The new system is a tested and certified ‘plug and play’, ready to be installed by our technicians.
