Borri secures smooth process in one of the largest hospitals in Varna, Bulgaria

Borri UPS for healthcare applications

As the third-largest city and major seaport in Bulgaria, Varna has a population of around half a million people, which significantly increases during summer season with tourists spending their vacations in the area. To sustain the demand of healthcare services, the region can rely on an extensive network of hospitals, care homes and other medical facilities.

Understanding Healthcare Applications’ Energy Needs

Hospitals are among the most energy-intensive buildings, and healthcare is closely linked to human well-being. These factors are critical in an environment where healthcare facilities are complex and expensive structures with an increasing demand for services. Any downtime in the use of electrical medical equipment and related data systems can cause major consequences to patient’s diagnostics and data records. Spikes, power surges and energy loss can affect the normal functioning of medical equipment or, in worst cases, damage them, with potential disruptions in the patient care and treatment. The use of a UPS to provide emergency short-term power guarantees continuity to healthcare services with no delays for patients. It also reduces any error in report and loss in data.

Powering Varna’s Largest Hospital: a success story

In Varna, Borri has recently provided its power protection solutions to one of the largest hospitals in the city. HI (Heavy Industries) Engineering Ltd., Borri critical power official partner in Bulgaria, followed the project locally.

HI Engineering Ltd. has been managing the hospital’s entire power backup system for many years, including power generators and UPS devices. We successfully integrated six Borri B9000FXS 160 kVA UPS units into the hospital’s power setup. Other devices in the facility include B9000FXS 125 kVA, 160 kVA and 200 kVA to guarantee smooth functioning of the hospital’s equipment.

The hospital is equipped with the most modern digital equipment to track patients’ essential diagnostic and treatment information such as:

  • MRIs scanners
  • CT scanners
  • Robotic surgical systems
  • Modular radiosynthesis systems
  • Medical laboratories
  • Radiation and hadron therapy equipment
  • Ultrasound machines

Thanks to this equipment, the hospital performs a 24/7 range of high technological medical imaging, robotic surgery and treatments.

To ensure these procedures are performed without interruption, the hospital relies on Borri UPS devices to prevent failures and malfunctions of the grid.

Key Features of Borri’s B9000FXS-B9600FXS UPS Systems

Borri critical power solutions are compliant to the strictest safety requirements. Borri on-line double conversion UPS’s guarantee high IP degree levels, transformers/autotransformers for isolation, voltage adjustment and a comprehensive range of monitoring and remote communication options.

B9000FXS-B9600FXS range optimally suits demanding applications such as healthcare:

  • Perfect matching with the upstream network and Diesel Generator, thanks to PF 1 rectifier.
  • Independent sources feeding capability and galvanic separation between DC link and AC output, ensured by Inverter isolation transformer.
  • Designed, engineered and manufactured 100% by Borri, according to all the product international standards, for top performance and resilience.
